The federal government through the minister of labour, Chris Ngige, will meet with executives of the organised labour union today (Friday).
Government hopes to avert the national industrial action threatened by Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) over the transmission of the New National Minimum Wage Bill to the National Assembly.
The meeting is expected to hold at the Conference Hall of the federal ministry of Labour.
It is not clear if members of the union will attend the meeting scheduled later in the day or what the possible outcome could be.
ASUU to meet INEC
Similarly, members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities will also be meeting with INEC today (Friday), to look at the possibility of suspending ongoing strike before the 2019 general elections.
INEC had earlier raised concerns that the strike may affect the elections but ASUU has insisted that their action will have no impact on the general election.
They are expected to also discuss corps member’s participation in the 2019 elections.
