A member of the House of Representatives, Afe Olowokere has advised the Nigerian Government to allocate more funds to the training of young farmers and the Agric sector.
Olowokere gave the advice at a three-day training for farmers in Akure North and South Local Government Areas at the Federal College of Agriculture (FECA)
Ayodeji Moradeyo reports that Agriculture used to be the mainstay of Nigeria’s economy, but the discovery of oil no doubt, affected agriculture, as many youths embraced white collar jobs.
The need to boost the agriculture sector and make youths show more interest in farming, necessitated the training for farmers. The training, which is the fourth in the series, was facilitated by a member of the House of Representatives, Afe Olowokere. The lawmaker urged government to provide incentives that would make farming more attractive to the youths.
