The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) says the long-standing Lagos Security Vision has become the country’s most effective sub-national security framework, crediting two decades of continuous investment and policy consistency for the state’s relative stability.
In a statement, the party said Lagos has demonstrated that security requires sustained action rather than political rhetoric, noting that successive administrations—from former Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu—have strengthened a multi-layered system built on intelligence, technology, partnership, and community participation.
The APC highlighted the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) as the country’s most successful public-private security financing model, providing equipment and resources unmatched in other states.
It added that the Sanwo-Olu administration has expanded smart-city initiatives, including surveillance cameras, crime-mapping technology, and digital early-warning tools.
According to the party, Lagos’ integration of community groups, traditional institutions and civil society has improved grassroots vigilance, while enhanced cooperation among security agencies has boosted response times and reduced operational duplication.
The statement also cited the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) as evidence of the state’s investment in disaster preparedness and rapid-response capability.
The APC maintained that Lagos’ uninterrupted progressive governance has ensured continuity of security reforms, placing the state at an advantage ahead of the anticipated creation of state policing structures.
It credited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for laying the original foundation as governor and praised Governor Sanwo-Olu for modernising the system.
The party urged other states to study and adapt the Lagos model, arguing that national security requires stronger local action backed by coordinated federal support.
“Lagos leads. Others can follow,” the statement said.
