The Lagos state government has rolled bulldozers into the Oko-Oba abattoir in Agege area of the state to pull down illegally erected structures and shanties.
Most of the butchers and traders affected by the exercise are displeased, and say they need more time to relocate.
But government insists the move is to improve food security in the state, especially the quality of beef processed on the butchers’s slab.
