The Lagos State Government has sealed Vaniti Club House on Adeola Odeku Street, Victoria Island, over repeated breaches of traffic regulations.

The enforcement action, led by the General Manager of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Mr Olalekan Bakare-Oki, followed what authorities described as the club’s “habitual and defiant” disregard for the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law, 2018.

According to LASTMA, the club routinely encouraged illegal roadside parking and encroachment on public highways, disrupting traffic flow and endangering public safety in the high-traffic commercial district.

Despite numerous warnings, stakeholder engagements, and public enlightenment campaigns, the club’s management reportedly failed to comply with the law, prompting the state government to seal the premises indefinitely.

“The law clearly prohibits any act that obstructs vehicular movement or endangers road users,” Mr Bakare-Oki said, adding that the closure was part of a wider crackdown on event centres, lounges and recreational venues that disrupt traffic with impunity.

“This enforcement is not a one-off occurrence. It marks the beginning of a sustained compliance campaign,” he stated.

LASTMA urged residents to report any club, lounge or event centre that obstructs free movement or constitutes a public nuisance via its toll-free hotline: 0800-00-LASMA (080000527862).

The state government reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a safe and orderly traffic environment in line with its vision for a liveable and world-class city.
