The Chief Justice of Nigeria, says that no one should mistake the judiciary’s noble silence for Vulnerability.

He made this statement at the conference of the body of Attorneys General in Abuja.

He noted that the judiciary should be given the respect it deserves.

This Conference is a platform for the Attorneys-General of the Federation and the States to discuss and build consensus on pertinent legal issues affecting the Federation.

The Body remains a critical forum for solving problems, sharing ideas and resolving disputes between the various States and the Federation.

It has been six years since meeting like this last held and it had become imperative to convene another National Summit on Justice to enable chief law officers assess the performance and impact of the 2017 Policy.

The summit will also determine appropriate reviews and amendments, in order to further deepen legal and judicial reforms in the country.

With the way the system of governance in Nigeria is structured, the possibility of having genuine disputes and friction among the federating units, national and sub-national governments, cannot be ruled out .

There is also need to underplay the culture of mutual mistrust between the Federal and State Governments, in order to promote and enhance a symbiotic relationship.

The agenda of this Conference is, to examine some of the issues militating against the desired synergy in the administration of justice and proffer a practical ways forward.
