The All Progressives Congress in Jigawa State has reaffirmed its loyalty to Governor Umar Namadi and warned that it will take disciplinary action against members working against his administration.
Speaking at a weekly citizens’ engagement programme in Maigatari Local Government, the Deputy Chairman of the APC, Nasiru Dahiru, declared the party’s full support for Governor Namadi’s leadership and development agenda.
He said the APC is monitoring political activities in the state and will not hesitate to discipline any member sabotaging the governor’s administration.
Dahiru added that the party will continue to mobilise supporters to strengthen the governor’s projects across the state.
Governor Umar Namadi, who also addressed the gathering, assured citizens that his government remains committed to delivering dividends of democracy.
He noted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is solidly behind Jigawa, pledging federal support for policies and programmes that will improve the lives of the people.
In what appears to be a boost for the ruling party, Governor Namadi announced the defection of more than 2,000 members of the opposition PDP to the APC in Maigatari alone.
The governor also revealed plans, in partnership with the Federal Government, to remodel the Maigatari Export Processing Zone and to address the recurring flood challenges that have affected the area for years.
With the APC rallying behind Governor Namadi and gaining fresh support from defectors, political analysts say the ruling party is positioning itself strongly ahead of future elections, while citizens look forward to the promised development projects.
