According to the Israel Defense Forces, the humanitarian corridor through which civilians can flee to the southern part of the Gaza Strip has been reopened.
Spokesperson for the IDF spokesperson Avichay Adraee said the passage which follows a majpr road will be open from 10 a.m. (3 a.m. ET) to 2 p.m. (7 a.m. ET).
He further stated that northern Gaza is a “fierce combat zone” and that “time is running out.”
According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, the corridor has been open for limited periods of time each day for the past four days.
“Thousands of residents from the northern Gaza Strip responded to the IDF’s calls and are currently making their way to the south,” Israel Defense Forces spokesperson Daniel Hagari wrote in a post on X, which included video of crowds walking.
Despite Israel’s repeated warnings to Gaza residents to leave the north, southern Gaza has been subjected to relentless bombing, with residential areas and refugee camps targeted.
