The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the display of the Preliminary Register of Voters exercise today across its offices in Local Government Areas nationwide.
According to the statement shared on INEC’s official X handle on Monday, the commission charged all eligible voters who participated in the last Continuous Voter Registration to visit the INEC LGA Office to confirm their details.
The statement reads, “If you registered or updated your voter information during the last Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, which ended on 10 December 2025, you are encouraged to visit the INEC LGA Office where you registered to confirm that your details have been correctly captured on the Preliminary Register of Voters.”
According to the statement, “The verification window gives you the opportunity to identify and correct any errors ahead of the production of the final register. Kindly note that the next phase of the CVR will commence in January 2026.”

Any member of the public can file an objection against a name on the register if they have evidence that the person:

2. Is Underage: The person is not yet 18 years old.
3. Is Not a Nigerian Citizen: The person is a foreigner and therefore not eligible to vote.
4. Is Not Qualified: The person otherwise does not meet the legal requirements to be registered in that area.
Observe the Deadline:
1. Duration: The display and exercise began today, Monday, December 15, 2025.
2. Deadline: The Claims and Objections exercise will last for one week, ending on Sunday, December 21, 2025.
