INEC begins weekend distribution of PVCs across Nigeria

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has again commenced the distribution of permanent voters cards, (PVCs) to registrants across Nigeria.

INEC national commissioner Festus Okoye says the commission has also resolved to devolve PVC collection to the 8809 registration areas and awards from 6th of January to Sunday the 15th.

After the 15th of January 2023, the exercise will revert to the local government offices of the commission until the 22nd of January 2023.

According to the electoral umpire, eligible and valid registrants can collect their PVCs from 9am to 3 pm daily included on Saturdays and Sundays.

INEC also announced that an International Conference Center in Abuja will serve as a national Situation Room and collation center for the general election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had on Wednesday received the last consignment of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation Systems (BVAS) machines ahead of the general elections which just 48 days away.

INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, national commissioners and senior officials of the Commission were at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, to receive the BVAS

He said over the last four months, several flights delivered the BVAS to the designated airports for movement to states of the Federation ahead of the elections.

With the arrival of the last flight in Abuja, the Commission has now taken delivery of the required number of the BVAS for all the polling units in the country and extra machines in line with its contingency provisions for all critical election materials, according to the INEC commissioner.
