The Imo State House of Assembly has said it will take urgent steps to ensure citizens participation in the appropriation of budget for 2020 fiscal year.
The Chairman House Committee on budget and appropriation Uche Ogbuagu gave the assurance in a forum organised by a non-governmental organisation with a theme ‘Budget Template in Imo State’
Politicians, civil servants, businessmen and women were present to participate in the 2020 budget Stakeholders forum in Owerri.
The Executive Director of a non governmental organisation believes that allowing communities identify projects to be executed in their areas would encourage them to own and protect such facilities.
The Chairman House Committee on budget and appropriation says Government should engage residents to ensure that only pressing projects are captured in next year’s budget.
At the end of the forum community Leaders resolved to support the Government in the areas of project identification and execution.
