The ad-hoc committee set up to probe alleged cases of harassment, intimidation and gross breach of constitutional rights of indigenes and residents of Bauchi, on Tuesday took petitioners’ submissions.
Yuguda, in a rather emotional tone, decried what he said was an abuse of his fundamental human rights leading to unjust detention and harassment from the police hierarchy in the state.
Other indigenes and residents of the state pointedly accused the Bauchi State Police Commissioner, Ahmed Zaki, of bias in the discharge of his duties.
One after the other, the petitioners painted a grim tale bordering on unjust treatment.
They accused the state governor, Abubakar Muhammed, of deliberately stifling opposition and creating unnecessary political tension through the Police Commissioner.
The Committee has now given the Bauchi Police Chief one week to peruse the many petitions against him.
He is to appear before the Committee next week Thursday.
