Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has challenged the federal government to demonstrate seriousness on the development of the agricultural sector by building institutions for manpower training.

He said this while inspecting the level of work at the Edo State college of Agriculture, Iguorhiaki in Ovia North East council area .

This is Edo State college of Agriculture, Iguorhiaki which was closed down by governor Godwin Obaseki to enable the state government upgrade the facilities to compete globally..

To ensure the structural work is in line with specifications without sacrificing the overall standard of the work plan, the governor along with his team arrives the ongoing site for an inspection.

And at the end of the inspection, governor Obaseki explains the reason for the huge investment in agriculture and wonders the federal government can’t do same…

Facilities like administrative block, College Auditorium, library, academic blocks, lecture theatre, student hostels amongst others are at various stages of completion.

FG TO INCLUDE TERROR VICTIMS IN NSIP 

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster management, Sadiya Umar Farouq, says victims of terrorism will be included in all the National Social Investment Programmes (NSIP) to enable them to recover properly from their Ordeal.

Mrs Sadiya Farouq, represented by Funke Olatunji, CEO, special duties, disclosed this on Thursday at a sensitisation programme held in Katsina state.

The minister added that insecurity has made it difficult for victims of terrorism to access basic services, adding that the ministry seeks to help provide stability through social inclusion.

The Minister who was quoted in a Statement said “It is a fact that security in Nigeria has continued to restrict access to basic services and both affected people and host communities require emergency support and other necessary human assistance,”.

“To this end, the ministry whose mandate is to provide assistance for the vulnerable groups in Nigeria had realized the enormous challenges faced by the victims of terrorism across Nigeria and has commenced a pilot phase of sensitization and survey of victims of terrorism.

“Nigeria is a signatory of UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy A/RES/60/288 with commitment to addressing the conditions conducive to the spread of terrorism which entails provision of assistance and support in terms of relief materials, medicals, justice, psychological and social assistance and rehabilitation as well as related services to victims of terrorism with a view to securing a holistic treatment for victims from the immediate aftermath of an attack.”

She added that the ministry will partner with all stakeholders to provide the necessary support to victims of terrorism across the country.
