Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, has officially launched the construction of a 17.5-kilometer feeder road linking Andaza, Dahuwa, Katanga, and Baranda communities.
The project, awarded at the cost of ₦2.866 billion, is expected to be completed within 12 months.
The governor flagged off the project during his Citizens Engagement Programme, known as Gwamnati Da Jama’a, held in Kiyawa Local Government Area.
The road, awarded to Radok Construction Nigeria Limited, is designed to ease transportation of agricultural produce, improve access to healthcare and educational services, and strengthen family and community ties.
Governor Namadi reaffirmed that his administration remains committed to providing access roads, improving infrastructure, and enhancing healthcare delivery across the state.
Earlier, the governor inspected and commissioned a newly renovated student hostel at a secondary school in Kiyawa.
He also made an unscheduled visit to Kiyawa General Hospital, where he pledged immediate renovation to restore the facility to standard and ensure effective healthcare delivery.
During the programme, officials presented the scorecards of their ministries, highlighting projects executed in Kiyawa.
Community leaders, in turn, presented a compendium of priority needs for government consideration.
The event also showcased the deep bond between the government and the people, as residents trooped out in large numbers, lining the streets from Shuwarin Bridge to Kiyawa town to welcome the governor.
In appreciation, the community presented symbolic gifts including kola nuts, dates, fish, and a bull representing their culture, livelihoods, and unity.
Governor Namadi described the massive turnout as a demonstration of trust and confidence in his administration and the All Progressives Congress.
With the commencement of the road project and commitments to healthcare and education, the state government says it is determined to make development more people-centered, practical, and impactful.
