Goods worth over 190 million Naira were destroyed at the Kara Wood and Timber Market in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, in the early hours of Sunday.
No life was lost in the fire incident.
Eyewitnesses described the blaze as fast-spreading, overwhelming the market before firefighters could contain it.
While the exact cause of the fire remains under investigation, preliminary reports suggest it may have been triggered by an electrical fault following a sudden power surge.
In response, the Kebbi State Government has provided an initial relief package of 10 million naira to the affected traders.
During a visit to the market, Deputy Governor, Umar Tafida assessed the damage and announced the donation as an immediate support measure.
