The Gombe State government has handed over one of its largest boarding schools to the Northeast Development Commission for comprehensive upgrade.
This is aside from the three mega schools constructed by the
intervention agency in each of the senatorial districts.
It is clear that low enrollment and poor education infrastructure remain a challenge in northern Nigeria.
Now, Insecurity has made the school enrollment even worse.
But it appears all hope is not lost as the federal government’s
intervention agency for the northeast region is investing more to
improve access and quality education.
This is evident in the upgrade of the senior secondary school at Mallam Sidi in Gombe State.
The NEDC is also building three mega schools, one in each senatorial
zone of the state.
All these are geared towards improving access to education, quality
teaching and infrastructure.
The combined team of officials of the Gombe State government and the NEDC took an advocacy tour to secure the buy-in of community leaders and traditional rulers where the projects are located.
