Nigerian content creators now make up the largest share of Africa’s most-followed live streamers in 2026.
The record highlights the country’s rising influence in the continent’s digital entertainment industry.
Figures compiled from Twitch and Kick indicate that Nigerian creators occupy the majority of positions in Africa’s top 10 streamer rankings for 2026, driven by strong fan engagement, celebrity-driven content, and the rapid acceptance of live streaming as a full-time profession.
The trend reflects a major shift in Africa’s streaming ecosystem. What began largely as a gaming-focused niche has expanded into a fast-growing commercial sector attracting major brands and international attention.
Although South Africa initially dominated Africa’s streaming space, leadership has gradually shifted to West Africa, particularly Nigeria, following increased global exposure triggered by visits from international stars such as Kai Cenat and IShowSpeed.
The 2026 rankings are based on combined followership across Twitch and Kick, a method that captures long-term audience loyalty rather than short-term viral popularity. While Twitch remains the primary platform across much of West and Southern Africa, Kick has gained momentum by offering incentives that appeal to emerging creators.

Nigeria’s representation includes Carter Efe, Shank Comics, Enzo (Rynenzo), Peller, Ojo, and Lord Lamba, forming the largest national group among Africa’s top streamers.
Carter Efe currently leads the Nigerian pack with more than 560,000 followers, making him the most-followed Africa-based streamer on Twitch. His mix of street culture, comedy, celebrity appearances and interactive content has helped connect African pop culture with global audiences.
Shank Comics, one of Nigeria’s earliest major streamers, remains a key figure. He was the first Nigerian to surpass 100,000 Twitch followers and gained wider international recognition after participating in Kai Cenat’s Streamer University and winning a $10,000 prize from YouTuber MrBeast.
Enzo represents a newer generation of Nigerian streamers, growing his platform through consistent gaming content and technical expertise rather than viral stunts.
Peller, on the other hand, has benefited from early adoption of Kick and serves as the platform’s first Nigerian brand ambassador, illustrating how strategic platform choices have influenced Africa’s streaming growth.
Despite Nigeria’s strong showing, the overall number one spot in Africa belongs to Moroccan streamer Ilyas El Maliki, while South Africa and Egypt also retain a presence in the top 10 through established creators.
