Image result for Fulani leaders call for declaration of State of emergency in TarabaElders in the Fulani-dominated communities in Taraba state have appealed to the Acting President Yemi Osinbajo to declare a state of emergency in the State.

The state, which has recorded ethnic and religious crises in the past, is yet again witnessing another round of violence.

The elders allege that a group mobilised by a local govt chairman has launched reprisal attacks because he claims that people from his ethnic group were being attacked by the Fulani.

They say the protection of their people cannot be guaranteed without a state of emergency.

In the mean time, the Taraba police command says it has arrested the suspected mastermind of the attack in Mambilla where seven people died in yet another clash between Fulani herdsmen and residents of Sardauna local government area.

Property worth millions of naira was destroyed in the attack.

According to the police, some community leaders have been arrested in connection with the attack on the Fulani settlement in Nguroje and other villages.
