The Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), Dr Kayode Opeifa, has advised citizens to embrace train travel amid the surge in petroleum products, citing it as a smart and reliable choice.
According to a Friday statement shared on his official X handle, Opeifa argued that train service offers passengers a more affordable, comfortable and efficient alternative while reducing travel time compared to road transportation.
This advisory follows the recent spike in crude prices, driven by global supply disruptions in petroleum products linked to the escalating conflict in the Gulf region and the Strait of Hormuz.
Dangote refinery also increased petrol gantry price to N1,075 amid the global hike in petroleum products.
He wrote, “Moving by train has become a smart and reliable choice, especially at a time when fuel prices continue to rise.
