A few days after the arrest of a suspect in connection to the murder of a Central Bank of Nigeria staff, Kehinde Fatinoye, his wife and son in Abeokuta, the suspect is now reported to have escaped police custody.

The last that was heard on the investigation on the murder of Kehinde Fatinoye and his family members in Abeokuta was the arrest of a suspect who they claimed to have been helping them with useful information about the situation appears to have changed with the rumor of his escape spreading on social media and some online news platforms.

Although the name and identity of the suspect was not disclosed by the police but the news spreading on social media indicate that Lekan Adekanmbi who they claim to be a driver of the family was a suspect.

Meanwhile, the surviving victim of the attack who was the housekeeper of the family had mentioned that when he identified the corpse of Oreoluwa Fatinoye.

Efforts to confirm the authenticity of the rumored escape of the suspect proved abortive, as the police public relations officer could not be reached.

However, sources within the police say they are making headway on the investigation but they cannot confirm or deny the issue relating to the suspect escape.

Meanwhile, it was reported that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Ibara, Abeokuta, CSP Bernard Ediagbonya, has been removed for alleged negligence.

The DPO was removed without any posting as the command directed the most senior officer in the division to take over.

It was gathered that Ediagbonya has been ordered to resume at the police headquarters, Eleweran, with immediate effect.

Also, the officers, under whose care the suspect escaped, are facing sanctions for failing to prevent Adekanbi from running away.

The Ogun State police spokesman could not be reached as at the time of filing this report.
