The First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu received one of the freed 277 Chibok schoolgirls who were abducted by Boko Haram in 2014.

The First Lady and the wife of the Vice President Nana Shettima received Rebecca Baku and promised to ensure she gets good medical care and is fit to return to school willingly.

Oluremi Tinubu also emphasized that the remaining females in captivity would not be forgotten, and she thanked the National Security Adviser’s office, the National Intelligence Agency, and other security agencies, as well as those involved in Rebecca’s rescue.

The First Lady stated that her NGO, Renewed Hope Initiative, is working hard to help matured girls who have been driven out of school return to school and receive a great education.

Rebecca will be one of the first to benefit from this effort, she vowed.

Rebecca, the rescued Chibok girl, told the first lady that she could barely understand English, but she was promised that she would conquer it.

Rebecca was kidnapped at the age of 13 in 2014 and is now 22 years old, according to the Coordinator, Counter Terrorism Centre, in the office of the NSA Rear Admiral Yaminu Musa. She was freed by government security agents on July 17.

He stated that the returnee has been medically and mentally cleared to be reunited with her parents in Zana village, Borno state.
