A Memorandum of Understanding, (MoU) between the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development and Save the Children International has been signed.

The international non-governmental organisation is to serve as a 3rd party monitoring and evaluation agent of the National Social Investment Programmes

This according to the Minister, will help the NSIP project to stand the test of time and achieve its purpose of lifting a hundred million Nigerians out of poverty.

The National Social Investment Programmes is one of the vital tools with which President Buhari hopes to achieve one of its major goals of lifting Nigerians out of poverty

As much as the Programmes has come under scrutiny, the Ministry has continued to ensure accountability and credibility of the Programmes

One recent effort is the signing of a 1 year renewable Memorandum of Understanding with the International NGO, Save the Children International to serve as one of the 3rd party independent monitors

The Ministry had earlier kicked off the monitoring and evaluation of the projects on different levels

Beyond the 3rd party monitoring, Save the Children International will also provide support in capacity building and training for staff of the Ministry and help review the NSIP monitoring and evaluation framework.
