The Federal Government has approved the construction of pedestrian bridges at three critical points along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway within Oluyole Federal Constituency, Oyo State.

The approval follows sustained advocacy by the Member representing Oluyole Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Tolulope Akande-Sadipe, who had earlier moved a motion on the need to improve pedestrian safety along the busy corridor.

Hon. Akande-Sadipe disclosed that the Minister of Works has approved the inclusion of pedestrian bridges at Soka, Boluwaji and Muslim areas in the upcoming budget as part of the first phase of interventions.

She said the initiative was a result of her recent meeting with the Minister to discuss urgent safety concerns across densely populated sections of the expressway, which include Technical University, Toll Gate, Felele, Soka, Sanyo, Boluwaji, Academy, Eleruku, Muslim, Semi-Bio and Ojoo.

“This initiative is part of my ongoing commitment to safeguard lives, improve road safety and advance infrastructural development across Oluyole,” Akande-Sadipe stated. “I will continue to work closely with the Ministry to ensure these projects are fully executed and that others are captured in subsequent phases.”

The lawmaker, who chairs the House Committee on Humanitarian Services, reaffirmed her resolve to ensure that all pending safety and infrastructure projects in the constituency receive due attention in future development plans.
