The Federal University, Oye Ekiti, has been shut down indefinitely, following the attack on the convoy of the Wife of Ekiti State Governor, Bisi Fayemi.
The authorities of the institution say the indefinite closure of the university was to forestall further breakdown of law and order.

The students union of the institution have also been disbanded

The students claimed they had been protesting the erratic power supply in their campuses in Oye Ekiti and Ikole Ekiti.

They had hurled stones at the convoy of the Mrs Fayemi who was on a state wide tour to interact with women.

The enraged students descended on many of the vehicles in the convoy including the Press Bus during which many people in the buses were brutalised.

Ekiti Police Spokesman, Caleb Ikechukwu confirmed the attack on the convoy when contacted on phone.

The Police Public Relations Officer however said that details of the disturbances was still  sketchy but also confirmed that a police patrol van was  set ablaze by the rampaging FUOYE students.
