Federal Government to open Loko-Oweto Bridge in March

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO OPEN LOKO-OWETO BRIDGE IN MARCH - FASHOLA

The Federal Government has revealed plans to formally open the two point two kilometre Loko-Oweto Bridge and link roads between Benue and Nasarawa States to vehicular movement in March.

The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola disclosed this shortly after an inspection tour of the bridge.

A long stretch of the 2.2 km Loko-Oweto bridge in Nasarawa Local Government of Nasarawa State.

The bridge links Northern and the Southern part of the country, an alternative to the Lafia-Makurdi road.

The bridge has been given attention by the Buhari administration since 2016.

This is the fifth time the Minister of Works and Housing will be visiting this project and this time he is here to ensure that the bridge is ready for formal opening in 10 weeks.

This will reduce travel time for commuters plying the road.

Aside the bridge, the federal government has also completed the 74 kilometers link road from Abuja and Otukpo to the bridge.

Residents of Loko, the host community are beginning to feel the economic impact of the bridge.

The bridge will also increase commercial activities between the Northern and the Southern part of the country and by extension boost its economy.

OGUN TO HAVE RED, BLUE RAIL LINES EXTENSION FROM LAGOS – STATE GOVT.

Ogun State Government has hinted that plan is underway with the Lagos State Government to extend the red and blue rail line into the Gateway state and ensure speedy completion of the ongoing Airport in Ogun State.

The Commissioner for Finance in the State made this known during the 2023 Budget Analysis session held in Abeokuta.

In order to maximize the proximity of Ogun State to Lagos, stimulate the local economy and reduce traffic congestion on the roads connecting the two states, Ogun State Government has started discussions with the Lagos State Government on how to extend the Red and blue rail lines into the state.

The Commissioner for Finance in the State, Dapo Okubadejo disclosed this while speaking on the plans of the state Government to make the state conducive for people working in Lagos and living in Ogun State and how to boost the local economy.

He noted that the N472 billion 2023 budget of continued development and Prosperity was designed along the five developmental pillars of ISEYA, which are Infrastructure development, Social welfare and wellbeing, Education, Youth Empowerment, Agriculture.

The Commissioner for Budget and Planning on his part noted that the state is doing well and will perform better this year with different programmes which the state has embarked upon.

The commissioners added that the state is leveraging on digitization to increase the Internally Generated revenue and its currently working on the Agro Cargo Airport with a plan to establish logistics hub at Wasimi and dry port at Kajola area of Abeokuta.
