The federal capital territory emergency management Agency has urged residents to desist from the indiscriminate sale of petroleum products around markets and residential areas.

The Agency’s Director, of forecasting, response and mitigation, says cases of fire outbreaks are rampant during this dry season.

She made this call at the Maitama Ultra Modern market in Kubwa while sensitizing traders on the need to avoid acts capable of causing any form of disaster.

Black market fuel vendors are usually common when there is artificial fuel scarcity or actual scarcity.

They seize this opportunity to make money as they sell double the price per litre.

Most fuel stations, no longer sell fuel on jerry cans, in a bid to curb these illegal sales, but still, the vendors find a way to get the product

Some of these black market vendors have now made it their full-time business to sell petroleum products at home which can lead to disaster.

To ensure the safety of FCT residents, the FCT Emergency Management Agency has asked residents to desist from the indiscriminate sale of petroleum products.

Sensitizing traders at the Maitama Ultra Modern in Kubwa the agency’s director forecasting, response and mitigation noted that petroleum products are more inflammatory during the dry season.

The agency also appealed to residents to desist from blocking drainage in order to maintain a clean and healthy environment.
