Voting in the Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) got off to a slow start on Saturday as officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) arrived late at several polling units.
Observers reported that at the first four polling units visited, electoral officials had not arrived by 7:30 a.m., even though voters and security personnel were present from around 7:00 a.m.
At Kuchiyako Primary School, one of the designated polling units, voters were left waiting to begin the accreditation process due to the absence of INEC staff.

A similar situation unfolded at the polling unit at the Chief’s Palace, where residents had gathered but officials were yet to show up.
INEC personnel eventually arrived at around 7:40 a.m. at the polling unit behind the Area Council Secretariat in Kuje, allowing accreditation preparations to begin as voters continued to wait patiently.
The delay caused minor disruptions, but security operatives ensured order was maintained as the electoral process slowly got underway.
