Spain midfielder Fabián Ruiz has etched his name into the country’s football history after extending his remarkable unbeaten record with the national team to 50 matches following La Roja’s victory over Argentina in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final.
The Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, who made his senior debut for Spain on June 7, 2019, in a 4-1 UEFA Euro 2020 qualifying victory over the Faroe Islands under then-head coach Luis Enrique, has now gone 50 international appearances without tasting defeat.
Ruiz has become one of Spain’s most influential midfielders since his debut, contributing six goals and 11 assists while helping the national team enjoy one of its most successful periods in recent history.
His unbeaten run has yielded four major international trophies. He first lifted the UEFA European Under-21 Championship in 2019, where he was named Player of the Tournament after scoring in the final against Germany.

He later played a key role in Spain’s triumph at the 2023 UEFA Nations League before helping La Roja win UEFA Euro 2024, where he scored twice and was named in UEFA’s Team of the Tournament.
The 29-year-old added the biggest prize of all to his collection on Sunday as Spain defeated Argentina 1-0 after extra time to lift the 2026 FIFA World Cup, securing the country’s second world title.
Since breaking into the senior national team seven years ago, Ruiz has established himself as one of Spain’s most dependable performers, combining technical quality, composure and consistency in midfield.
His record of 50 caps without a defeat further underlines Spain’s dominance in recent years and cements his place among the most successful internationals of his generation.
