Officials from the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes in Yobe have begun constructing projects aimed at controlling gully erosion across various communities in the state.
The initiative comes as a response to the devastating floods that wreaked havoc in the past years.
Affected communities in Yobe state have long grappled with the repercussions of frequent flooding, leading to loss of livelihoods and displacement.
This comprehensive project involves the construction of gully erosion control structures designed to redirect rainwater flow and prevent future erosion.

Eight local government areas in Yobe state are set to benefits from the gully erosion control project.
Damaturu, Fika, Damagum, Nguru, Karasuwa, Jakusko, Gashua, and Buniyadi local government areas are the beneficiaries of the project.
The project starts with that of Damaturu. Contractors assured residents of speedy execution of the projects.
As construction progresses, community leaders are optimistic that the implementation of these erosion control measures will create a safer and more sustainable environment for all residents of the affected local government areas.
