Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has left Cairo for Washington on Saturday to meet with the United States President, Donald Trump.
Both Presidents hope to seek a renewed relationship after tensions over Sisi’s crackdown on opponents.
Sisi will also see top officials at the World Bank and International Monetary Fund, where he will pitch for help for his country.
The trip will be Sisi’s first U.S. state visit since being elected president in 2014 as former U.S. President Barack Obama had never extended an invitation.
