DSS IDENTIFIES THREATS AROUND KADUNA AIRPORT

Officials of the Department of State Security in Kaduna state have warned the nation is likely to be challenged by political thuggery in 2023 if the situation is not properly managed.

Mr Abdul Enenche who revealed this at a security meeting at the Kaduna Government house on Friday also called for the sensitization of youths who are mostly used in the perpetrators of these political unrest.

He appealed to the federal and state governments to speed up the completion of critical nation infrastructure such as roads and other projects.

The Kaduna DSS Director, reveal that the agency has identified security threats around the Kaduna international Airport which if not properly addressed worsen.

He is calling on host communities to contribute their quota by supplying security agencies with the needed intelligence to avert impending attacks.

He disclosed this on the sidelines of the Kaduna State Security Council meeting in Kaduna attended by the State Governor, Nasir El Rufai and the Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Lai Mohammed.

The Meeting had disclosed that the activities of Criminal gangs in the State including bandits, Terrorists and Other sundry Criminals have led to the death of 440 persons in the State in the last 6 months.

The report reveals that Kaduna central senatorial zone has been the most affected with Chikun, igabi, Kajuru local councils accounting for 60 percent of deaths recorded and 70 percent of kidnappings.

On the success recorded by the security forces Mr Aruwan revealed that the terrorists who attacked the Nigerian Defence Academy in 2021 have been killed together with at least 168 other notorious bandits within the period under review.

He also revealed that security forces in October recovered at least 27 bags of fertilizer after raiding a notorious bandit camp in Kaduna.

According to him the bags of fertilizer were meant to be used by bandits to manufacture Improvised Explosive devices (IED’s)
