DROMI exceeds goal, distributes foods to over 1,000 Ondo women

A non-Governmental Organisation, Dr. Rhoda Makinde Initiative (DROMI), has distributed food items to 1,000 women in Ondo.This is in continuation of her efforts to succour the needy and downtrodden.

The event was an extension of DROMI’s food palliative project, which is in line with the second goal of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Items distributed were 5kg of rice and two litres of vegetable to each of the beneficiaries. in and 2 liters of vegetable to each of the beneficiaries

The event witnessed a massive turnout, exceeding the 1,000 beneficiaries it had earlier planned to cater for.

Represented at the event by Mrs. Roseline Fayehun (J.P.), the Executive Director and Founder of DROMI, Dr. Rhoda Makinde said, “What is happening today and our initiative is more than just a food distribution programme.

“It is a commitment to uplifting lives and fostering resilience.

Mrs. Fayehun also represented the founder’s husband, Hon. Biola Makinde, a member of the House of Representatives representing Ondo East/Ondo West Federal Constituency.

He said the free items distributed to the elderly women is a deliberate and consistent effort to end hunger in society and to cushion the effects of the current increase in food prices.

He further encouraged other organizations and philanthropists to always remember the people during this period.

A beneficiary, Mrs. Omolola Ajibade, appreciated the NGO for remembering women at this tough time.

Another beneficiary, Mrs. Christina Akinnawo,expressed her joy and prayed for the organization.
