Former Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial district, Dino Melaye, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party.

In his resignation letter addressed to his Ward chairman in Ward 1 Aiyetoro Gbede of the Ijumu Local Government area of Kogi State, Mr Melaye cited the lack of organisation and potency within the party as part of reasons for his resignation.

According to him, the party has shown that it lacks the capacity to deliver Nigerians from what he termed as the Political cankerworm that has eaten deep into the fabric of the nation.

He said the situation has made it impossible for him to participate fully in its activities at all levels in good conscience.

He concluded by withdrawing his involvement in the party and resigning his membership with immediate effect.

The letter was dated 4th of July 2025.
