The death toll from the measles outbreak in Adamawa state has now risen to 49.

with that development, Governor Umaru Fintiri has directed his Commissioners to return to their constituency and engage the locals on the danger of spreading the disease.

One of the measures taken by Governor Fintiri is closing down of all public and private primary schools in the state to enable children to get the needed medical attention.

The governor also directed all Commissioners in the state to educate their constituents on the need for children to be immune against the disease.

At a media interaction organised by the World Health Organisation, media practitioners in the state were briefed on how they can contribute in the fight against measles.

The state Epidemiologist Kadabiyu Jones spoke on the present stage of the spread of the killer disease and the preventative measures put in place by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri.

He stated that the number of deaths across the 21 local government areas stands at 49.

The NUJ Chairman and other speakers shared their views on the Orientation Roundtable engagement.

It is believed that the closure of primary and secondary schools and the Drafting of medical practitioners to the affected local government areas have helped contain the spread of measles in the state.
