Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has been honoured with an Award of Excellence by the Civil Society Coalition on Peace, Security and Conflict Resolution for his strong commitment to improving basic education and building a more secure future for the State.
The award was presented at the Council Chamber of the Government House in Dutse during a one-day roundtable discussion on basic education attended by key stakeholders in the education sector.
The Coalition says the honour recognises Governor Namadi’s deliberate efforts to reform the education sector through increased investment in school infrastructure, recruitment and training of teachers, and policies that promote inclusive and quality learning.
According to the Coalition, the governor’s education agenda has moved beyond promises to concrete action, helping to expand access to education and improve learning conditions across the state.

In recent years, the Jigawa State Government has undertaken major interventions, including the construction and renovation of classrooms, provision of learning materials, and strengthening teacher capacity to improve classroom delivery.
Education experts say such investments are critical to addressing challenges like out-of-school children, youth unemployment, and insecurity, as education remains a key driver of peace, economic growth, and national development.
The Coalition described Governor Namadi as an Architect of Educational Excellence, noting that his reforms are laying a solid foundation for long-term human capital development and social stability.
The Civil Society Coalition also reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with the Jigawa State Government to support policies and programmes that will improve learning outcomes and secure a brighter future for the next generation.
