The Jos division of the federal high court, has dismissed the suit filed by Mr Danyaro Sarpiya, against the emergence of Mr Nentawe Yilwatda, as the winner of the All Progressives Congress gubernatorial primary election in Plateau state.
Danyaro Sarpiya filed a case immediately after the gubernatorial primary polls in the state, seeking the disqualification of the winner, Nentawe Yilwatda, on the basis that the exercise was not in consonance with the electoral act and the guidelines of the APC, as well as the constitution.
These supporters of the ruling All Progressives Congress gubernatorial candidate in Plateau state, Nentawe Yilwatda, celebrate the Court judgement that has given them victory, following months of a legal tussle.
Danyaro Sarpiya, an aspirant, who contested alongside 19 other contestants in the gubernatorial primary election in May this year, had filed a suit challenging the outcome of the polls which pronounced Mr Nentawe the winner of the exercise
He claimed that the process was not in consonance with the electoral act, and the guidelines of the APC, as well as the constitution.
After a series of court sittings and hearings on the matter, the Jos division of the federal high court presided by Justice Dorcas Agishi, dismissed the suit for lacking in merit.
The APC Gubernatorial candidate, Nentawe Yilwatda on his part, appealed on all aggrieved members of the ruling party in the state, to bury the hatchet and support the party to victory next year.
APC Party stakeholders see the victory at the courts as a positive sign that they will emerge winners at next year’s general election.
The governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress in Plateau State has been under the microscope following the decision of some members of the party to challenge the outcome in Court after expressing dissatisfaction with the result.
