In recent days some states have been affected greatly by flooding leaving many homes and businesses under water, with thousands displaced.

The twenty seventh United Nations climate change conference will create the platform for many countries especially African countries who remain at the receiving end of huge losses, to request for a lot more than it has received since the climate crisis

Mohammed Abdullahi says the government will align with other West African countries at the event as it prioritises issues surrounding adaptation and climate change mitigation, starting with the launch of a logo and delegates handbook.

Sustainable funding and partnership building will be needed to ensure that Nigeria’s target of achieving net zero emission by the year 2060 will be achieved.

Experts believe that Cop27 provides an opportunity for Nigeria to step up its mitigation and adaptation efforts in order to meet its net zero emission targets by 2060.
