Congolese police fired bullets into the air and launched tear gas canisters to try to disperse hundreds of opposition supporters in Kinshasa.
A loud explosion and gunshots were heard as opposition members gathered outside the home of the late former leader of the country’s main opposition party, Etienne Tshisekedi.
Talks meant to pave the way for President Joseph Kabila to step down and hold elections have failed after Catholic bishops pulled out of their mediation role.
Reacting to this decision, the opposition has vowed to hold a nationwide protest on April the 10th.
