Methodist Church of Nigeria is asking the federal government to end the herdsmen killing of citizens in Benue, Taraba and other states. Archbishop Oche Job of the Abuja Diocese said the killings are too much to bear for many families.

TVC News Senior Correspondent Sumner Sambo reports that one of the critical issues disturbing the Methodist church is the renewed killings by herdsmen militia across Nigeria especially in Benue and Taraba states.

They seek urgent military action and back President Muhammadu Buhari’s plan to use one billion US dollars to buy new weapons for the military.

The Methodist Church also commended the federal government for publishing the names of alleged looters.  But they request for more information on recent projects that recovered monies have been used for.

They also asked the presidency to hasten negotiations for the release of the kidnapped Leah Sharibu who is still being held captive by the Boko haram over her decision not to renounce Christianity.

They said a failure to act quickly will lead to a formal accusation of religious bias against the government.
