Chief Justice of Nigeria Justice Olukayode Ariwoola has called for what he described as a transparent and effective judicial system that will facilitate community development across the country.

The Legal luminary Spoke in Iseyin at a Symposium organised to enhance a more effective judicial system to enhance Community Development.

The Nigerian Judicial System over the years has been faced with challenges despite being described as the hope of the common man.

At the symposium organised in honour of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, speakers identified executive suppression and intimidation of the judiciary as major factors affecting the effectiveness of the Judicial arm of government.

They harped on the need for a reliable and accountable legal system that will boost the confidence of the masses.

Others believe a judicial decision rendered in a public trial will have an impact not only on the parties involved but also the Community at large.

To other participant, the judiciary needs to understand the purpose of law and explore justice and values that exists in the profession for societal growth.

 

Justice Olukayode Tajudeen Ariwoola, was appointed the substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria in October following an acting period as the Nations’ Chief Judicial Officer for a period of over 3 Months following the sudden resignation of the former occupant of the office, Justice Tanko Muhammed in June.

He reportedly resigned due to ill health which was making it difficult for him to carry out his constitutionally assigned duties.

Justice Olukayode Ariwoola was Sworn in by President Muhammadu Buhari in October and has also been in the eye of the Storm for the Wrong reasons recently.

He was accused of getting involved in partisan politics following his statement about the group of G-5 Governors grouping within the Peoples Democratic Party.

Justice Olukayode Tajudeen Ariwoola is an indigene of Iseyin in Oyo State and the first such person from the State to reach the heights as the Chief Justice of Nigeria.
