The Confederation of African Football, CAF, has named the Nigerian duo of Asisat Oshoala and Francisca Ordega, as well as South African Chrestinah Thembi Kgatlana in the final three of the 2018 African Women’s Player of the Year.
24-year old Oshoala is the reigning Player of the Year and has won the award three times, 201, 2016 and 2017 and helped Nigeria defend their African Women’s Cup of Nations title in December.
Midfielder Ordega plays for Washington Spirit in the USA and starred in Nigeria’s ninth Nations Cup victory.
22-year old forward Kgatlana was the Most Valuable Player of Women’s Championship as South Africa reached the final.
In the men’s category, it is as we were last year with reigning Player of the Year, Mohamed Salah, his Liverpool team-mate Sadio Mane and 2015 winner, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, have make the top three.
The winner will be unveiled at the Awards Gala on the 8th of January in Dakar, Senegal.
Gabonese striker Aubameyang is appearing on the top three list for the fifth successive time, having first been named in 2014.
