President Muhammadu Buhari has written the Senate, seeking the confirmation of Tanko Mohammad as the substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria.
This follows a letter from the National Judicial Council, recommending Tanko Mohammad for the position of Chief Justice of Nigeria.
Buhari’s letter was read on the floor of the Red Chamber by the President of Senate, Ahmed Lawan.
Justice Tanko Mohammad has been in acting capacity since the former CJN, Walter Onnoghen was suspended, before he eventually retired voluntarily.
