Boko Haram, ISWAP clash claims 30 terrorists in Borno

The Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) and Boko Haram terrorists have clashed at Tumbum Allura and Kangar camps in Borno state, killing over 30 fighters.

According to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert in the Lake Chad disclosed that Abu Umaimah, a Boko Haram commander, led fighters to the ISWAP camps on the fringes of Kangar border community.

He noted that the 13-hour clash led to killing of over two dozen fighters on both sides of the terror groups in the region.

The captives regained their freedom after being abducted by ISWAP along Maiduguri-Gajiram Road on August 3, 2022.

The rivalry of December 30, 2022 began 4p.m. to 5a.m. Saturday and was led by five commanders of Boko Haram in Abadam, a border community with Niger.

A counter-insurgency expert in Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama, disclosed yesterday in Maiduguri that Abu Umaimah, a Boko Haram commander, led fighters to the ISWAP camps on the fringes of Kangar border community.

Similarly, during the 13-hour battle between the terror organizations, four captives escaped from ISWAP prison.

On August 3, 2022, the prisoners were released after being abducted by ISWAP along the Maiduguri-Gajiram Road.

Among those released was a medical professional working for one of the humanitarian organizations.

According to Makama, the escaped prisoners infiltrated a neighboring country through the wilderness in the Lake Chad Basin.

After being profiled by ground soldiers, they will be handed over to authorities for further action, according to a military source.
