Fifteen pupils and one teacher perished after a boat transporting a school group overturned in a lake in western India on Thursday, according to fire service officials.
Eleven students were rescued when the boat capsized in Harani Lake in Vadodara, while rescuers were looking for the individual who remained missing, officials said.
The cause of the accident is being investigated.
Vadodara is a city in Gujarat noted for its diamond trade. According to Indian media accounts, the youngsters were on a picnic when the disaster happened.

Boating accidents are widespread in India, where many vessels are overcrowded and lack proper safety measures.
Last September, 22 people died when a double-decker boat carrying more than 30 passengers sank on a beach in a coastal town in Kerala state, southern India.
In May 2018, 30 people died when their boat capsized on the swollen Godavari River in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh.
