Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi has insisted that the approval for distribution of rail tracks is not based on ethnic or geographical considerations, but on President Muhammadu Buhari’s determination to ensure that infrastructure is put in place across the country.
He made this assertion at the presidential Villa on Tuesday while speaking with statehouse Correspondents, after a meeting with the President.
Amaechi disclosed that while the Lagos-Ibadan rail was currently undergoing civil works, the Itakpe-Warri rail had to be completely overhauled because a lot of its tracks had been vandalised, but would soon be ready for commissioning.
He also expressed confidence that work would soon commence on the Eastern rails as soon as money was sourced.
