The All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged dominant in the July 12 local government elections in Lagos State, winning all 57 chairmanship seats and 375 out of 376 councillorship positions.
The results were officially announced on Sunday by the Chairman of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), Justice Mobolanle Abidemi Okikiolu-Ighile (Rtd.), during a press briefing.
Justice Okikiolu-Ighile disclosed that the only councillorship seat not secured by the APC was in Yaba Local Council Development Area (LCDA), where the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) claimed victory.
The elections, which were held across the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas in the state, saw high voter turnout in some locations and relatively peaceful conduct overall.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress has thanked Lagosians for the unflinching support given to the party in the Local Government Elections on Saturday.
The party in a statement signed by its publicity secretary, Seye Oladejo, said it does not take the support for granted and promised to continue to deliver for the people at all levels.
