The Chairman, House Of Representatives Committee on Rural Development, Oladipupo Adebutu has faulted the mode of sourcing Internally Generated Revenue from market women and traders in Ogun State.He made this known in Abeokuta while lamenting the level of economic hardship in the land and the style adopted by the officials of the state government agency in charge of revenue generation.
He noted that the government and it’s officials were acting as if they were insensitive to the plight of the masses who are struggling to get their daily bread through petty trading but were locked out of their shops due to non payment of taxes and levies.
Federal Lawmaker maintained that Ogun state has the capacity to generate more revenue without inconveniencing the less privileged, such as poor market women and artisans amongst others.
