The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria in Adamawa state has agreed to reopen all filling stations earlier closed down.
This decision is coming after the intervention of governor Ahmadu Fintiri
Officers of the Nigeria Customs Service in their routine exercise to some bordering Community intercepted six truck loaded with petrol believed to be smuggled to Cameroon
The customs says it’s action is in line with its mandate of curbing smuggling activities.
But a meeting organised by the state government is to ensure peace and adequate supply of petrol across the state.
Addressing journalist shortly after the meeting that lasted for three hours, the state Deputy Governor Kaletapwa Farauta disclosed that the matter has been put to rest as both parties have agreed to sheath their sword.
The Adamawa/Taraba Area Commander of the Nigeria Customs Service Garba Bashir, in his response said the command had agreed to resolve the matter through the mediation of the state government with IPMAN in the state.
However a Cross section of Adamawa residents wants the federal government to withdraw the licence of IPMAN members smuggling petrol to Cameroon.
With the intervention of the Adamawa state governor on the fuel crisis, residents may likely begin to enjoy an uninterrupted fuel supply in the coming days if both parties stick to the terms of agreement.
