A five-tonne elephant from a Colombian zoo had successful surgery on one of its tusks, a procedure involving 30 people.
The veterinarians, biologists and zoo technicians spent three hours to carry out the operation.
The elephant, called Tantor, is believed to be about 50 years old, and had root canal work, due to a crack in its right tusk.
The zoo management said deep cleaning of the infected canal was conducted, followed by a filling of the cavity to avoid re-contamination.
Nearly 100 people contributed towards 20 percent of the total cost of the operation. The rest was donated by various companies and a wildlife foundation.
