The Federal Road Safety Corps in Ogun has confirmed that a fatal accident at Gofamint in Ogunmakin, on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, claimed three lives and left one other person injured late Tuesday night.
The Sector Commander, Ahmed Umar, confirmed the accident to newsmen in Abeokuta, the Ogun State Capital on Wednesday morning.
Umar said the incident occurred at 10:55 p.m. on Tuesday night and it involved a Van, marked YYY 457 YY, and a Toyota Hiace bus with registration number DUI 187 FST.
He explained that the accident was caused by excessive speed and route violation on the part of the Van driver leading to a head on collision.
He disclosed that, “A total of six people were involved in the accident including four males and two females, all adults.
”One person was injured while two women and the driver of the bus died in the accident.”
Umar stated that the injured victim was taken to Victory Hospital, Ogere, for medical attention, while the deceased were deposited at the FOS morgue, Ipara.
The sector commander advised motorists to drive cautiously and always avoid route violations while travelling on the road, especially at night.
